Gardening Pruning Services
Pruning trees and shrubs is more than just removing unwanted growth that is overhanging a pathway.
Many plants in your garden need to be correctly pruned to encourage fruit and flower buds for the following season and some perennials will produce a second flush of flowers if cut back, often known as "The Chelsea Chop." Pruning also creates the shape and structure of a plant as well as remove ny dead or diseased areas.
This pruning must be completed at the correct time of year and stage of growth, for example if you prune a Camelia in August you will remove the flower buds for next spring.
The most common question asked about pruning at our local nursery are,
"How do we prune our clematis , it doesn't flower"
"Our wisteria grows and grows but doesn't flower"
"I prune my apple tree every year but it never fruits"
With our thirty years of experience gained growing plants at our nursery in Barntaple and gardening for clients across North Devon we have a wealth of knowledge on when,
how and if you can prune a particular plant, with the renovation of older mature fruit trees and
wisteria being a specialty.
